Missile is a ghost dog! Thanks to the circumstances of his canon, this means he can talk to others who have died. If your character can talk to ghosts/talk to animals, then you'll be hearing the WELCOME! along with the yap yap yapping.

Also, he's got a fair few spoilers around, as he is from near the end of the game.

She lost her ability to feel, sleep, eat, her heart, and her soul. It isn't mentioned if she was breathing or not during the time she didn't have her soul so I guess it's your call on whether or not that counts as dying.
